Conservatives will scrap Home Information Packs (HIPS). Grant Sharps the Shadow Housing Minister announced this week that the Conservatives would scrap HIPS within weeks of winning a general election. This will be good news to Estate Agents and sellers as they typically add between £300 - £400 to the cost of selling a property and is quoted as one reason why the market has been depressed. It is likely that the Energy Performance Certificates (EPC’s) will be retained which are a mandatory item required before a property can be marketed for sale or rental. N.B. Coastalhomes provides EPC’s for its Landlord clients at competitive prices www.coastalhomes.uk.com .
