We are going to have to start with Portsmouths Premier music venue, the Guildhall, I saw my first "proper" band here back in 1976, and have been returning regularly ever since. The Guildhall has a standing capacity of 2228 people, and can host major rock bands and smaller intimate gigs with ease. There is a choice of bars, and a restaurant for refreshments, and plenty of parking nearby.It has been run by Portsmouth Cultural Trust since 2011, and now hosts weddings, events and conferences.
