As part of the Portsmouth over-60s festival Southsea Greenhouse invited groups of the silver generation along to the garden for an informal chat and ideas exchange. Our guests were asked to bring along unusual items that they could plant up with winter flowering plants, such as winter pansies (that are also available to buy in the shop at the garden which is to be found alongside the Natural History Museum at the Canoe Lake. Current opening hours are 11am รข3pm Thursday to Sunday. Other plants together with fruit and veg also available). What an assortment of containers turned up ! Old boots, wellies, pots and pans, watering cans and even an old colander. They all looked great when planted up. In deference to Halloween we are holding themed craft sessions on each Sunday during October, to which accompanied children are warmly invited. Pumpkins (also available to buy in the shop!) will feature and home made chocolate lollies and other confections are available. We look forward to seeing as many as possible at these events.
