Payback time as Poole Town FC beat Blackfield & Langly

It seemed that the Blackfield and Langley game plan was to use up as much time as possible and hold off Poole, hoping to sneak a one-nil win or even 0-0 draw.  Having already beaten Poole at Tatnam back in October by a surprise 1-2 scoreline, they were hoping to be the first club to complete a double over Poole in over two seasons.  Their game plan was undone just before the break when a looping shot from Stuart Smith was caught by the B&L keeper who's own momentum carried him over the line for a goal.

From that point on they were forced to push forward and a second mistake by the keeper early in the second half allowed Carl Preston to pounce and poke the loose ball home.  A few minutes later and a superp cross from Carl Preston allowed Steve Smith to notch his 27th goal of the season and put the game beyond doubt.

With the points seemingly secure, Tommy Killick made his substitutions, bringing on youngsters Sam Beale and Will Robinson, from the table topping Reserves side, to give them a taste of first team action.

In the final minute, almost the final kick of the game, B&L scored a late consolation goal.  The result means that B&L, currently sitting in 7th place can't catch the Dolphins, as they head towards another League and Cup Double.  The Dolphins are just 2 points behind Wimborne, but have 4 games in hand.

Next up for the Dolphins is the home tie against Brockenhurst on Saturday 13th March, 3pm at Tatnam.
