Poole Town were rampant at Christchurch on Tuesday night in the Wessex League Cup Quarter Final. An early head injury sadly saw Captain Carl Poore's night come to an end, but the Dolphins reshaped and went on to score eight goals without reply.
The damage was done by former Christchurch players Russell Cook and Luke Whitley, who got three and one respectively, plus a brace from South African Stuart Brown and singles from Steve Smith and Ross Lloyd. The entire team looked on fire with only the injury to Carl Poore and a red card for debutant Jacob Harrup late in the game dampening that fire.
The Dolphins have now progressed to the Semi final for the second season in succession and will face Farnborough North End in a two legged semi. The away leg will be first, on Tues 23rd March and the return to Tatnam one week later on Tues 30th March.
Next up for Poole is a return to Tatnam to face Brading in the Wessex Premier Division. Brading are the only team that have beaten Poole on their league travels this season. Mind you, that was 1-0 from a hottly disputed incident where video evidence showed the ball clearly did not cross the line. It would be a brave man to bet on Brading completing the double!
