Pontypridd Lido - Wales last outdoor swimming pool based in Ynysangharad War Memorial Park is undergoing a revamp.

Plans to restore the Grade II-listed Pontypridd lido (outdoor swimming pool) which closed in 1991 are a step closer thanks to lottery funding.

The lido in Pontypridd based in Ynysangharad War Memorial Park has become run down since its closure in 1991. Here's a few points on whats happening with the planned refurbishment.

Pontypridd Lido is on the process of being refublished as a heated pool for all the public. Its been left there for many years and nothing was being done about it until now. And they have decided to start thier work on there as soon as they can so it will be open to all the pubic in Sping 2014.

Also a new building has been added to the Lido which they are thinking about turning it into a learning centre.

Plans to restore the open air swimming pool come as the market town undergoes a revamp to attract more visitors.

Rhondda Cynon Taf council now has two years to submit more detailed plans and apply for a further £2.1m of lottery support.

This funding will allow the council to further explore the feasibility of the scheme and the regeneration opportunities this important site could present.
