Shoppers can once again enjoy FREE parking in Rhondda Cynon Taf throughout December.

The special festive treat will remove some of the Christmas shopping hassle as all Rhondda Cynon Taf Council owned or managed car parks will be free to use for the entire month of December, after 10am.

County Borough Councillor Andrew Morgan, Leader of the Council said: “Christmas is the perfect time of year for our town centres to showcase all that they have to offer, and once again this year, the Council will be providing free parking throughout December.

“This is the third year we have been able to extend the free Christmas parking period to cover the whole of December and proposals to make this a permanent arrangement every December, and plans to reduce parking charges generally, are currently being consulted on, as we continue to do all we can to support our town centres.

“There is so much going on in our town centres this Christmas, including a range of Christmas events organised by the Council, and we hope many residents and visitors will take this opportunity to park for free and enjoy everything they have to offer.”

All vehicles must display a valid parking ticket or permit until 10am and disabled people can continue to park free at all times in designated disabled bays when they display their 'blue badge'.

So for all the festive fun, Christmas events and seasonal shopping, Rhondda Cynon Taf’s town centres have got Christmas shopping covered.

The town centres are home to some unique shops that offer visitors the opportunity to find one-off, special gifts for all the family.

As you stroll along the streets its clear to see why so many shoppers head to our centres every year. After all that shopping, why not relax in the various restaurants and cafes that the towns have to offer.

If that’s not enough to help you find that perfect present, many of the towns boast traditional indoor and weekly outdoor markets that offer a wealth of stalls, selling a wide range of unusual items.

The Council is currently consulting on car parking proposals which would see free Christmas parking in place throughout December every year as well as a range of reductions to charges to support wider work aimed at encouraging more people into our town centres.

You can still have your say on the proposed changes to car parking charges by visiting the Council’s consultation web pages
