MP Owens Smith gets involved with the Pontypridd Regeneration Project
On Friday June 25th at 5:30pm Owen Smith, MP for Pontypridd held an open evening for both businesses and the people of Pontypridd to discuss and inform those present of the current state of affairs in Pontypridd Town Centre.
Quite frankly it was great to see some one who could possibly sway some decisions get behind the regeneration of Pontypridd which, has so im told, been dragging on for far to many years now.
We learnt that:
The main concern of the meeting was from a majority of the local businesses that attended regarding the current low footfall levels passing through the town. Local businesses felt that the following were leading to a loss of footfall:
And of course all the above coupled with the recession has prooved for challenging times in Pontypridd Town Centre.
Owen Smith MP for Pontypridd hopes to reignite the somewhat dissolved chamber of trade as a vessel of communication between Pontypridd Town and RCT local Gov.
