Giving to Pink was formed by Clare Smart (Founder and Chair “Giving to Pink”) during her own successful battle with Breast Cancer in 2014. Having been treated within Cwm Taf University Health Board Clare wanted to raise money that would be specifically used to improve the Breast Care Facility within the area. The care that is offered to patients is second to none but sadly the current facilities definitely need improvement.

£10,000 was raised in a very short period of time and the Health Board put her in touch with like minded patients prepared to help with the fundraising. Giving to Pink is unique in that they are a volunteer fundraising group with the Health Board holding charitable status. They do not incur any overheads which means funds rise very quickly.

Since September 2014 they have raised over £140,000 and are aiming to raise £250,000 by the end of the year.  They've held many high profile events including a Gala Dinner in the Principality Stadium which raised over £44,000 last November.

There are lots of great events planned for 2016 details of which can be found on the website www.givingtopink.com

Giving To Pink propose to end the year with the Community fundraiser “Let’s turn Cwm Taf Pink”. They are currently meeting on a weekly basis to plan this huge event. This fundraiser done well could raise considerable funds and would take us one step nearer to the Breast Care Facility that Cwm Taf deserves.

They are delighted to be supported by both Merthyr Borough Council and RCT Council as well as both the Merthyr and Pontypridd BID Teams. Early interest in the event is very encouraging and lots of businesses and individuals within the community are already pledging to support the day. Leekes stores in both Llantrisant and Tonypandy along with their head office are supporting the event.  Cyfarthfa Castle and The Redhouse in Merthyr have also pledged their support.

This is a fantastic opportunity for all the Business Communities in the Cwm Taf Health Board area to raise money in the community that will be spend in the area and make a real difference to many peoples lives for many years to come. It would be fantastic if “The Best of RCT”  would support the event.

If you have any queries please don’t hesitate to ask.  Giving to Pink has a strong presence on both FB and Twitter. We intend to use these platforms to promote the event.  We have also had some fantastic support from Media Wales and their Health Correspondent Mark Smith has written some great articles about our fundraising. I am sure this large scale Community event will generate a great of PR and Media interest both locally and Nationally.
