The Food Hygiene Ratings Scheme comes to Wales
The Food Standards Agency has written to Local Authorities regarding the roll-out of the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme this autumn.
In Wales, the 22 Local Authorities are planning to roll-out the Scheme from the 1st of October.
The Scheme will include an online search facility to check for Hygiene Ratings of businesses in particular areas.
In line with the findings of independent research with consumers, the national scheme will be called the ‘Food Hygiene Rating Scheme’ and ratings will be shown on a simple numeric scale. The newly designed branding, which can be viewed on the Food Standards Agency website (www.food.gov.uk) makes it easy for consumers to understand and use food hygiene ratings.
