Having only opened its shop in The Guineas shopping centre in June 2011, Newmarket fishmongers, Fish, is already in the running to win the Local Business Accelerators (LBA) competition.

Fish, which was one of the four winners of last year's Strictly Come Newmarket incentive, has seen business growing steadily in the past six months, with Trisha Bircham, her husband Colin and two sons, Ollie and Tom, building up a regular clientele and welcoming customers from Newmarket, Bury St Edmunds, Cambridge and Huntingdon - even visitors holidaying in the area who want to buy delicious, fresh fish.

The Local Businesses Accelerator (LBA) campaign has been co-ordinated by the Newspaper Society and is aimed at promoting growth within local communities. The scheme will see 1,500 firms across the UK receiving £15 million-worth of free advertising to help promote their brand throughout 2012, plus advice and support from business mentors.

Lanunched in October, the LBA's have been backed by Prime Minister, David Cameron and Deborah Meaden from BBC's Dragon's Den.
