Captivating Cartouches – Cartouches showed the name in hieroglyphics of an important person or God and were thought to protect against evil spirits in this life and the afterlife. Using air-drying clay, put your name on a cartouche and then paint.

Using air-drying clay, put your name on a cartouche and then paint. Why not visit the From the Nile to Newbury special exhibition about Ancient Egypt after this activity and do a free trail, self-guided tour and other gallery activities. Aimed at 7-11 year olds, but younger and older children are welcome. An adult must remain with the child throughout the session.. Please dress for mess, although disposable aprons will be available for the messier crafts. You are welcome to bring a reusable apron. Last entry for the activity is 2.45pm.
