We love dragons at West Berkshire Museum! We have a dragon on our weathervane and another in the permanent exhibition.

We love dragons at West Berkshire Museum! We have a dragon on our weathervane and another in the permanent exhibition. It will come as no surprise that we’re hosting a free family craft event to make and colour-in a disco dragon puppet.

There are three 45-minute sessions to choose from (subject to availability): 9am, 10am & 11am. (An adult must remain with the child/ren throughout the session).

This event is run alongside the Disco Dragons Treasure Map which has been produced by West Berkshire Council Public Health and Wellbeing in partnership with Treasure Map Trails to encourage people to travel, explore and learn more about the historic town of Newbury. The ideas come from the children of Speenhamland School with local businesses and agencies also involved.

West Berkshire Museum is usually closed to the public on Tuesdays. If you book onto this event, you will only have access to the craft in the Long Room and the toilets. The rest of the Museum will be closed. Please do come back to see the rest on a day we are open to the public (Wed-Sun, 10am-4pm). It’s free to visit!

If you book a child place or places and then realise you are unable to attend, please let us know as soon as possible so we can offer the place(s) to other families.
