With festival season officially under way, a care home in Newbury is welcoming the community for fun-filled days of food and celebration. Care UK’s Newbury Grove will open their doors to families and neighbours for a food festival, inviting guests to tuck in and celebrate the nation’s shared love of great cuisine, community and connection. Guests are invited to enjoy a special talk from Ben’s Berkshire Bees on Thursday 6th August, from 2pm-4pm, during which he’ll share the process of making honey and caring for bees sustainably. A host of sweet treats will be on offer, made by the home’s Head Chef, Philip Pereira, such as honey flapjacks and muffins. Adarsh Kurian, General Manager at Newbury Grove, added: “The day not only promises a lot of laughter, but it is also an excellent way for residents to meet and mingle with lots of new faces – and some familiar ones.” “We cannot wait to welcome our neighbours from Newbury for a special bee-themed day of food and fun!” The events are part of the ‘A Taste of Home’ initiative, which will see all Care UK homes host foodie-themed celebrations and showcase what life in a care home is really like. Each festival will showcase sustainable, community-focused initiatives while celebrating the diversity and creativity within the homes, from residents’ favourite recipes and traditional dishes to seasonal menus featuring locally sourced ingredients.
