"In this ancient corner of an ancient land,

Life moves with quiet step and cares are shed"

Last month I met Mike Spratt, a very charismatic character, who along with his wife, will offer their guests a warm welcome to Newark Lodge Guest House. He made me a perfect cup of coffee and homemade biscuits which was the start of an interesting and fun appointment.

Located just over a mile from Newark town centre, and a quarter of a mile from the A1, Newark Lodge Guest House is a real find. The Lodge dates back to the 17th century and has all the charm of a Tudor cottage with fine old ship's timbers. All the beautifully decorated bedrooms (designed by Mike) are ensuite and have digital Freeview TV's with a DVD player, free Wireless Broadband, trouser press, hospitality tray and mineral water. Breakfasts are cooked to order and are served in the splendour of the Dining Room which overlooks the Lounge with it's wealth of beams and inglenook fireplace. Whether you are looking for a holiday or on a business trip, Mike and Shelia will ensure you have a great stay away. This is a fabulous B & B, the accommodation is first-class and the service exceptional.
