Lincoln, Newark and Gainsborough Colleges are among the first in the country to have achieved a prestigious careers advice award. The matrix award provides a benchmark to ensure organisations are delivering high quality information, advice and guidance to individuals in their choice of career, learning, work and life goals.

The framework comprises four measured elements which are; leadership and management, resources, service delivery and continuous quality improvement. The college was assessed at the beginning of February over a three day period. Various staff and students were interviewed to determine how effective the college’s services are and the assessor described it as a “fantastic” review.

Good communication throughout the college and between external partners was seen as a strong point. Staff commitment and pride in their work which clearly showed through and good planning processes are amongst other strengths.

Mike Hoyer, the Guidance Team Leader stated “I am delighted that the Student Services Guidance Team and the Learning Resource Unit Careers Zone has successfully achieved re-accreditation. We want to provide the best services we can for our students and work has already begun to ensure that the high standard remains constant.”

Vice-Principal, Ian Sackree said “It is important to us that our students make the right career decisions and get the support they need for a bright future and this award shows that we are accomplishing this.”
