The last two weeks I have been sampling the picturesque, cliff edge Lincolnshire village Navenby, visiting some real gems including Jolly Posh and The Potting Shed Florist.

Navenby is about 20 minutes from Newark and well worth a visit on the weekend or stopping off, if passing through. Recently featured in Nottinghanshire Living, Navenby boasts an Antiques Centre, a quality family butchers which includes a deli, a bakery, a museum in a cottage, coffee shop, a florist and a gift and home interior shop.

The Potting Shed run by Becky has just joined thebestofnewark as a new business member and has recently been chosen from thousands as one of 12 florists in the UK to be featured in the renowned 'Flower Shop and Friends' book by Sally Page. There will be more about this outstanding florist later.

We also welcome Jenny Giles and her family to the bestofnewark. Jenny established Jolly Posh for her granddaughter. Jolly Posh is based on a play of words after her two children Holly and Josh. Jenny was an art teacher and is an incredibly creative lady. Jolly Posh specialises in a range of home furnishings and gift ideas. The shop offers something for everyone and I will be taking the family over one Sunday to browse at the end of October, by which time Jenny will have decorated and dedicated her five rooms to Christmas. My daughter will love it. Afterwards the pub being a few yards up the road, I might just stand lunch!

If you haven't been to Navenby I recommend a visit.
