We bring you the latest news and events from Transition Monmouth. If you want to be more involved with the group go the meeting on October 1st in The Punch House 7.30 pm. 

Swap Shop – Saturday 28 September at Monmouth Priory, 10 till 12 – for seeds, plants and produce – plenty of all at this time of year – and tools from Tools for Self Reliance.  Refreshments by the Monmouth Fairtrade Forum.  Donations of old unwanted tools would be much appreciated, especially sewing machines.

Community Composting Event – Saturday 28 September in Chepstow – hosted by MCC + the Welsh Government’s Tidy Towns Initiative – the aim is to learn from the experience of projects elsewhere.  Book your free place on https://compostitmonmouthshire.eventbrite.co.uk/ + please confirm any special dietary requirements to alisonhoward@monmouthshire.gov.uk – yes – lunch provided!

Steering Group – Tuesday 1 October @ 7.30 in the Punch House – please come and let Transition Monmouth know about your bright ideas of what we should be doing!

Wales Fair Trade Fair – Sunday 6 October in the Market Hall, Abergavenny:  This is open from 10 till 5 and attractions include a range of stalls – Love Zimbabwe, Bag-Age, Goodies from Gambia, Equality Ethical Trading, Hempish,  Zimele, Bees for Development, African Bags, Taste Zimbabwe, Tools for Self Reliance plus others together with entertainment – a Fairtrade song competition, live music, African drumming and food, sheep racing and a children’s African Green Village.  We will be organising car shares – contact bethiasmith@hotmail.com or phone 01600 719993.

Transition BBQ – Sunday 13 October at the Monmouth Community Orchard, Two River Meadow, Monmouth NP25 3LZ – BYO food and drinks, and we will have the (locally made) charcoal ready to start cooking @ 1 o’clock, gazebos to protect us from the elements, and  who knows what else. Looking forward to seeing you there.

Gwent Wildlife Trust – Tree Diseases:  Monday 21 October @ 7.30 in the Shire Hall – + then a biggy on Monday 18 November – the Severn Barrage with Professor Roger Falconer

Official launch of Abergavenny Transition Town – Sunday 27 October, 11 till 4 in the Market Hall, Abergavenny:  There will be stalls, food workshops, drama + more, + an opportunity to survey the range of activities with the general theme of sustainability + community – see http://abergavennytransition.org for further information
