Well what a fantastic day in Monmouth yesterday for the arrival of the Olympic flame in Wales! The town looked fantastic, everyone was happy, the sun shone and it was a great spectacle for Wales!

Lots of dignitaries arrived to welcome the flame, most of the businesses had made a real effort and the First Minister was working the crowd outside the Shire Hall with no security, just a really informal chat with everyone.

As a business that is working hard to make Monmouth special, yesterday made us feel proud of the town, and it was great to see everyone taking part in the festivities and making the day so amazing.

Well done to the County Council, the stewards, the Police, the Olympic organising committee, the Shire Hall for hosting many different groups during the morning and lastly, well done Monmouth – you shone on the day and did yourselves proud as the Olympic Flame entered Wales.

Our only regret was that most people left after the flame had gone and in the afternoon the town reverted to a sleepy country town. It would have been great if the streets, empty of cars could have been used for continue the Carnival atmosphere for a few hours longer.

Photos to follow.
