Spring is coming

I am hoping that the weather will revert to those few days of sunshine we saw recently. Even if the weather doesn’t seem to be particularly spring like, the emergence of crocuses and daffodils joining the snowdrops is a sure sign that Nature is on course. The duck is back by the side of my house where she nests every year before taking her ducklings through the underground brook and into the pond. Not a journey I would fancy making but every year she sets off and every year she is back.

Time to start thinking about planting so it could be worth your while paying a visit to St Weonards Village Hall this Saturday 23rd February  for Transition Seedy Saturday  As well as seeds, bulbs and plants, the regulars from the successful Community Garden on Garway Hill will be there to talk about their venture and answer your questions. The Home-Brew Club will have samples to taste, there will be also be a selection of tools from Tools for Self Reliance Cymru. They would be very grateful for your donations of unwanted/rusty/broken tools for refurbishment.  The event is from 10 -12 and there will be a selection of local crafts and refreshments.

If the advent of Spring means you are about to de-clutter your house, support Climate Change Week March 4th to 10th by giving to our local charity shops or call Homemakers on 01873 857618. Based in Abergavenny they work for the whole of our county “ helping reduce landfill whilst helping people in need”.
