One of my favourite months, I like the clean fresh smell of dew in the morning, the hope of warmth in the day. Nights are definitely getting cooler but just get out your jackets and colourful woollies and wrap up to enjoy a fabulous September, here’s a glimpse of what Monmouth has to offer.

Thursday 12th September Merlin Music Society presents their last concert. with Anna Huntley (Mezzo-soprano) and James Baillieu (Piano) including works by F.J Haydn and Robert Schumann. Free at The Blake Theatre. 7.30pm.

 

Friday  13th Bridges  Fashion show and clothing sale. Get all your Autumn goodies for less than the high street price. Rasing miney to support Bridges Community Centre. Free glass of wine included £7.50 7.30-9pm.

 

Saturday 14th September:  The Cradocks at the Savoy 14th September dinner and a show in the same place £25.00 including a 2 course dinner. Pre booking essential. Book online 7.30pm

 

Sunday 15th September- Tea with Puccini 3pm at the Savoy - Arias from Puccini's best loved operas With Virginia Blakey, soprano. Alison Milledge at the piano, and special guests. Traditional Afternoon Tea Included.£8.00 or £5.00 concessions.

 

Monday 16th September ELYSIUM at The Savoy.

Set in the year 2154, where the very wealthy live on a man-made space station while the rest of the population resides on a ruined Earth, a man takes on a mission that could bring equality to the polarized worlds. cert_15_GB  Disabled Access  Induction Loop   109 min  -  Action | Drama | Sci-Fi £5.00  Friday 13, not Sat, until Thursday.

Wednesday 18th September Asaf Sirkis Trio “Since arriving in London from Israel at the end of the end of the '90s, Asaf Sirkis has earned a reputation as one of the world's premier drummers” Ian Patterson, All About Jazz .  Queens Head, 8.45pm Free

Saturday September 21st - Monmouth has its own Vegan festival at the Shire Hall.  Free tastings of vegan and vegetarian food and a great place to go if you are interested in finding out more about reducing the amount of meat you eat or becoming a vegetarian or vegan. Free  10.30 – 4pm .

 

Sunday 28th September - Is there anybody out there - Dark Side of the moon performed by Pink Floyd Tribute band- the whole album- Blake Theatre £15.00

 

Sunday 29th September  Little Rumba Queen’s Head 8.45pm  Free

If you can you imagine songs from an island populated by Jewish Argentinean Celts, stuck in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico, reached only by radio stations from New Orleans, Cuba and Jamaica - then you’re ready for Little Rumba - a great world music trio. www.littlerumba.com
