What is Independents’ Day?

Two retail support organisations, Skillsmart Retail and the National Skills Academy for Retail have joined together with local retailers across the country on 4th July to celebrate Independents’ Day.

On the UK version of this US Public Holiday, the public are being encouraged to buy items from a local independent retailer and celebrate how diverse our high streets are.

Trade associations such as the NFRN and Association of Town Centre Management have been teamed up with, along with national, local and trade press to make sure the campaign is a success.

Supporting independent retailers

The skills that great independent retailers have will also be championed to show the public that their local shopkeeper is not only a vital service, but someone who wears many hats; they are the accountant, sales assistant, buyer and often everything in-between.

I'm a retailer - how can I get involved?

Download the Independents’ Day poster and put it in your window to get the message out to local shoppers

If you have a website, upload the Independents’ Day banner to promote the event

Visit and Like this important campaign on facebook, or tweet about it if you use that too.
