For the 14 days leading up to Valentine’s Day, people have had the chance to review their favourite local businesses raising the profile of their own community. During the national competition, tens of thousands of reviews were collected, equating to one every eight seconds as the contest reached its crescendo, and local people throughout Monmouth and Abergavenny have really done their bit with over 1250 reviews being given to nearly 60 local businesses across both towns.

So Andrew and Jacky are now really pleased to announce the ‘Monmouth’ results of the ‘14 Days of love’ national competition, which is sponsored by ‘The Best Of’ for all clients across the UK.

Based on the great reviews received from local people, the winner by a significant margin is The Red Door Deli and Diner, who also came 2nd nationally in the ‘Most Loved Businesses in Category’ for Delicatessens.

The much loved runners-up for the ’14 Days of love’ competition in Monmouth are:

  • Misbah Tandoori
  • The Coach House
  • Blue Glow IT

Followed by Handyman House, Emma Webster Flowers, Drybridge House, WPA, ARTico and Coates Physiotherapy Clinics.

And that’s not all because in the same way as last year, Andrew and Jacky also ran the competition as part of the ‘Buy Local Buy Monmouth’ campaign so that all local businesses can join in the fun.

In this category, the Jewel Balti restaurant who were joint winners in 2012, have been given ‘Top Love in Monmouth’ again this year by their customers.

Other Monmouth businesses given much love by their customers in ‘Best Loved’ order are:

  • The Hair and Beauty Studio
  • The Gatehouse Pub
  • The Pocket Bakery

Followed at some distance by Bojangles, Eighteen, Envee / No.94, Pasty Heaven, Helmet Hair, Ugo, Ernest Opticians and Andrew Bayliss.

Andrew and Jacky said, “Like last year, it’s been great to see such a large number of people ‘showing some love’ for their favourite businesses during the campaign, it just goes to show how much our town is supporting its local independent businesses and we would really like to say a big Thank You to everyone who got involved. Small businesses are the engine room of our economy and lots of local business owners – and their loyal staff – are feeling great today because their efforts have been recognised and appreciated by so many of their customers.”

Rhiannon and Ceri Hiscox owners of winning The Red Door Deli and Diner located in Millbrook Garden Centre in Monmouth said, “It is very touching and a real honour to see how much our customers value what we do as we approach our first anniversary in business. It is great to see people coming out to support local businesses”
