Both our MP and AM member are lending their support to the campaign.

Nick Ramsay AM  says “We are fortunate in Monmouthshire to have a wide range of independent stores trading alongside the big high street names. I have championed making purchases in local independent stores for a long time and I am pleased to support Buy Local Week which is being operated by The Best of Monmouth.

Our high streets have a special place in the fabric of our country, but they are struggling. If we don’t support them we risk losing them forever. I encourage everyone to support Buy Local Week and demonstrate how much we value our local high streets.”

Local MP David Davies said:

“ I am delighted to support any initiative which helps local high streets and local producers. I very much hope that the buy local in Monmouth campaign is a great success.”

If you are a local business show your support by displaying a poster or a sticker in your shop window. Just give us a call on 01600 729030 and we will pop by with one.

Come and meet TheBestOf team on Saturday June 1st from 10am-4pm outside the Shire Hall. Pledge your support by recommending your favourite local business and be entered into a £100 prize draw. From 3rd to 9th June, you can also pledge your support on our website to ‘Buy Locally’ and you will be in with a chance to win a £100 each day!

Help us to support our Senior Citizens!

During the campaign, The Best of Monmouth are also raising money to help the intergenerational tea dances on Thursdays at Bridges.  Run by Georgie Meadows, they have no funding yet provide a wonderful social experience for many of Monmouth’s older residents. As someone wise once said, if it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a community to help our elderly enjoy an active life. Help us help them.

You can see more of just how special these Thursday afternoon tea dances are by watching this short film.  http://www.cromwellfilms.com/portfolio/thursdayafternoons/

Might be wise to have a tissue handy!
