Dropped in for lunch yesterday as we are moving to the area soon and wanted to get a feel for the place and the people. We were really impressed. The staff were friendly and the food was awesome. Really looking forward to moving now and spending more time at this great place.

Two of us ate from the pre theatre early bird menu where you could have 2 courses for£14.95 or the full 3 courses for £18.95
Bread and oil were brought to the table and we were asked if we wanted water, I got the impression the water would have been chargeable, I asked for tap water which was no problem and a chilled bottle was brought without question and it was foc.Despite there being 4 choices for starter unfortunately there wasn't anything we liked so we went for a main and dessert.
Again 4 choices of mains, 2 fish/1 vegetarian/1 chicken dish. Neither of us are fish eaters so we went for the chicken dish. It smelt/looked and tasted delicious. I would say ask if the dish comes with any vegs or potatoes etc as the dish we ordered only came with a small potato and I think it was sweet potato and a bunch of pea shoots. We ordered a portion of veg and there were plenty for both of us, but glad we had ordered them as extra.
Three choices for dessert or cheeseboard for which a supplement was payable. We opted for the strawberry/meringue/ice cream combo which again looked lovely and tasted delicious. The staff were very friendly and attentive without being in your face. As we were not having a starter they explained that food would take approx 30 mins as it was all cooked fresh to order. Of course we did not mind the wait but was good to be made aware in advance.
The tables are set in like small rooms/areas but is not cramped or dark and dingy and not on top of the neighbouring diners. There was music playing in the background but was not overpowering, you could still hear each other. The car park is small only probably 6-8 spaces, but there is a sort of slip road at the front which you can park on.
I have to say that it is quite expensive if not on the offer menu, so would probably only go for special occasions, but I do recommend and I would go again.

Following a lovely interesting walk around Husbands Bosworth, a group of twelve of us retired to the White Lion at North Kilworth for lunch. We had booked and ordered our meals in advance and were greeted by very friendly staff and taken through to a small private room to dine. The decor was great, modern, tasteful and spotlessly clean. Our food was delivered promptly and varied from tasty sandwiches, salads and the special two course lunch priced at £12.95. Pesentation of the food was excellent and each of us thoroughly enjoyed our chosen meal. Definitely planning a return visit in the near future, hopefully to dample the dinner menu!

Called in circa 15.00 on Sunday for an "impromptu, just passing, in need of quality food visit" & boy we were not disappointed & are thrilled to have found this little hidden gem, which is relatively close to our home.
I popped my head in before parking up to check if food was still being served, especially as most of our typical haunts had already ceased trading at that time & I was welcomed in the most friendly & hospitable manner & invited in to dine; notably they serve food on a Sunday until 17.00 hours! The decor is contemporary, shabby-chic style with definitely more emphasis upon chic than shabby; the refurbishment really is very stylish & appealing, lots of wood, bare brick & slate grey & black create the most comfortable environment & ambience.
However, the service was outstanding & really did enhance our dining experience, it was attentive yet informal & totally relaxed, yet nothing was too much trouble. We opted for the roast pork & roast beef; both of which were exceptionally delicious! The roasters were fluffy upon the inside & crispy & crunchy upon the out; the veg was al dente, the suede & carrot purée utterly delicious & the yorkies were also incredible as was the crackling! The beef was served medium-rare & the gravy jus was so tasty! The food was absolutely show stopping, beautifully presented & all round perfection. Our starters were just as good, fish cakes & shredded duck stir fry; the attention to detail with presentation was spot on & we were only sorry to be too full for dessert!
I had two large glasses of the Chilean red which was very palatable & priced at just £5.90 a glass was very good value. Everything was absolutely tip top & we can not wait to return as we surveyed the full menu, (presented in impressive & stunning black, moc-croc folders) & spotted some other dishes we would love to try, so we will definitely return & definitely recommend highly.
Our one & only gripe, is that £4.00 for a pint of blackcurrent & soda water is excessively over priced, if not pure rip-off; although granted the schwepps bottles of soda water were used opposed to the typical tap soda water, it still doesn't warrant such over the top pricing & it was a shame to experience this since everything else was exceptional & very reasonably priced given the high end food & service we experienced & enjoyed.

After driving past over the last few months was glad that I finally got to go into the recently re-opened White Lion.. Can't quite understand the virile review that has been given by another "customer" on this site? My partner and I were greeted warmly on entering this beautifully decorated place and once seated enjoyed a fabulous 3 course meal.shall most definitely be paying you another visit when next out that way,Great work!!

Went with friends for lunch. Really nice new decor, good cutlery and glassware with real linen napery. Well considered lunch menu plus an alternative early bird two or three course offering.two of us opted for the two courses at 14.95 plus a bottle of very nice Pinot Noir at 16.95.our partners went for a single item from the lunch menu and a desert. All the dishes were beautifully presented and very tasty. Service was prompt very friendly and very professional. This is a really great addition to the local restaurant scene where this quality is in short supply.Anyone wanting a nice place not far from the M1would do well to stop off here.

My 2 friends and I have just had a lovely Sunday lunch here prior to going to the Kilworth theatre production of Singing in the Rain. There was a good choice and we had Prawn cocktail followed by Roast Pork and Crackling. It was beautifully presented and served by an extremely efficient and pleasant young man...in fact all the staff were really helpful and pleasant and obviously well trained. The food was delicious and reasonable. There was a lovely ambiance and very pleasant but unobtrusive music was playing in the background. It was nice to see that it still welcomed the locals for their Sunday pint and added to the pleasant atmosphere. We will certainly go there again for a meal and I wish the new management every success which they certainly deserve.

Have visited the white lion on several occasions since its opening. We have always found the food to be very high quality and the service to be friendly and efficient. I understand that there has been some issues with the chef of late, but we have never had a problem and will be reurning very soon.

After visiting the area to see family, we all decided to go out for a meal and came across this lovely pub resurant, so we decide to try it out as it had been recommended to us. The staff we upmost professional yet warm and welcoming. There was a relaxing atmosphere where my family and I could sit and chat. Then came the food... It was amazing, the starters were a good size and well made; the mains were succulent and tender (I had the chicken myself ) and the deserts were both sweet and beautiful. Everything was so well presented and the staff made sure we were happy with our meals. I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone and everyone and will be returning for more soon. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

For once I've been to this place a few times and love it, it's run by an old school friend so I may be a bit biased. Recently done up and reopened as a restaurant & wine bar from a dingy pub and it's done to perfection. The food is very restauranty and pricey but the price you pay is worth every penny! Fine selection of wines, beers and spirits to go with your food.
All staff are very friendly and local to the area so can help with an local needs which is a big bonus!!

We - a party of 8 visited on April 28th. Having booked the evening I was apprehensive because 2 are used to the high life in London while two others are accustomed to extravagance!! The atmosphere was very relaxed. Others were there, some eating, some simply drinking at the bar. The Ale was very good. The service was just right...we were not rushing but nor did we want a long wait. Timing throughout the night was just right.
Presentation of the starters was excellent, and while a couple of us believed we had previously eaten well presented asparagus, have never tasted it as good as this. Everybody was very pleased with the starter, and similarly the main courses were very, very good. We all agreed on that fact. The wines were excellent and very reasonably priced. On settling up we thought that the bill was very reasonable, but then a member of staff came hurriedly to say she had made an error on the bill, which accordingly came down by £20.00. We would not have known, but we're very impressed with the integrity evident. We will most certainly be returning.

Called in on spec last night hoping to celebrate my wife's birthday in a romantic atmosphere. We had the table next to the wine rack and were not disappointed. We had lovely starters (I had the soup and it was really tasty) and we both went for the lamb for mains. We were too full for a dessert.
With a glass of Prosecco to start and an excellent bottle of Chile Merlot with the meal, quality food and very good service, I can certainly recommend it. The food and drinks are on the slightly expensive side but give it a try. Don't ask for the table by the wine rack, as I'm sure I'll be needing it again!

We were a party of four who had an evening out at the White Lion last Saturday. This was our first visit since it has reopened as a restaurant and initially were impressed, it was well decorated and good atmosphere. We ordered quite quickly and food did not take long to come but was a bit of a disappointment, the bread arrived first with balsamic and oil dip, the bread looked really good but was actually stale and not appetising at all, so a disappointment there. Three of the party had soup (leek and potato) I was ok with it by the other two diners were not impressed and felt it was quite bland, it was 'decorated' with pea shoots which were tasty but could have been more delicately presented rather than the rather huge clump in the centre of the bowl. The other member of our party had the goat cheese starter which looked rather nice but was again disappointing as the cheese was just cut and not cooked. The mains were a sum of two halves, the two men had the steak and were very disappointed in the size and the chips were also not very generous, the ladies had the trio of chicken which was ok and the other had the trio of lamb which was also OK, there was a double serving of veg for the chicken and lamb dish which we felt was quite a mean portion and very green, not much colour there. We decided not to stay for dessert.
Will not bother again, may try The Attic instead as I see.

Our second visit to the White Lion, having read a couple of recent reviews, I must admit we went there with a little trepidation, however, we needn't have worried.
Service with a smile throughout from the moment we arrived to our departure, nothing was too much trouble, excellent, tasty food and spotlessly clean throughout. We'll definitely be back again.

I had been by this pub for many years but never went in. I think it closed down last year and half expected it to be knocked down and houses built. To my surprise it has reopened into a very nice wine bar/ restaurant. It was advertised in the swift flash and thought we would give it ago. We was met by very pleasant staff who took us to our table which was ok but would have been better if I was facing my wife and not to the side, but I suppose I could have asked to reset the table. I chose the crab for starters which was ok, bit bland but ok, the wife had the cauliflower soup which was very good. For the mains I had lamb which was very nice except there wasn't enough, three small pieces, very well cooked though and nicely presented. The wife had trio of chicken which she enjoyed. For deserts we had the cheese board, which was ok but as the same with many restaurants never enough crackers! I had a bottle of house white which was very drinkable! This place has the makings of being a very good place to go with friends and family. A couple of pointers, a bit more quantity on the mains, the vegetables where cooked to perfection but the bowl wasn't particularly full of them! Bit more lamb as paying £16 and three slices is a little on the tad expensive side, the Grey Goose in Gilmorton has it spot on, it's not cheap but you get value for money for it. The white lion isn't far behind and if they tweek the odd thing they could be on par! Overall it was good and would recommend to friends and family and will certainly go back in the future with friends, just give a tad more for the money!

We live in Leicester and have friends in North Kilworth. There are about fifty restaurants of all kinds within walking distance of where we live, so our friends were delighted when this pub re-opened as a restaurant that there was at least one near them. We all came to try it out, and we will certainly return when it our turn to drive.
The atmosphere and ambience have changed utterly since the last time we were here under one of its previous managements. The food is well above pub grub, but not exactly memorable. we gathered that their previous chef had deserted his post without warning only a few days before - these things happen, and no doubt there was still some learning and variation going on in the kitchen. Nevertheless the food was tasty, well-presented, and satisfying. I recreated the 70's by having prawn (well seafood) cocktail followed by steak. The starter was far better than the 70's version with plenty of seafood, a crisp salad and a giant shell-on prawn. The steak was cooked as I ordered it (rare) and they passed the dijon mustard tests (first, they knew what it is, second, they had some). Various pasta meals were also consumed with pleasure. We had two puddings between us, one was a success the other - while perfectly edible - was not really an Eton mess as it was supposed to be.
We had a nice bottle of wine at a not unreasonable price.
Service was friendly and efficient. The ambience is good, and we had no problems with the other diners, all of whom were perfectly well-behaved.
The reviewer complaining about mixing up couples with groups has a point, except that a group of four is hardly a group in that sense - restaurants can and should put a group of twelve as far as possible away from smaller parties, but most people come in twos and fours and generally mix without problems. (No, we weren't the group of four she was complaining about - we were very quiet indeed!)
We wish the new version White Lion well and hope that it will thrive.

Called for lunch on a Saturday.
Former pub converted into wine bar and restaurant. Decor and ambiance is nice but menu lacks a sense of adventure, and thus feels expensive for what it is.
We liked the refurbishment and want this new eatery to work and be well used - At the moment the range of meals needs to rise above the competition and be lively and interesting. It feels a little bit too safe for the price and ambiance.

Went to the White lion for my wife's birthday with family and friends on a Saturday evening. First impression - warm atmosphere with contemporary interior. Table was very cramped (but there were 10 of us so probably had to compromise a bit), took quite a while to issue menus and take drinks order then quite a while to receive our starters. Initially thought there wasn't enough staff but having watched further, enough staff but not quite flowing well enough. The menu was varied enough, well presented and well cooked. Staff were very polite and friendly. Would recommend and will return again.
