Gilmorton Beer Festival follow-up
7th June 2010

Can't believe it's already over a week ago, but The Man and I did go to the Gilmorton Beer Festival on the Sunday of the bank holiday weekend (the Saturday was taken up with cheering on the Tigers at Twickenham!).

It was a great event - you can see in the photo below just what a wonderful array of beers were on offer, with great names such as Tail Shaker (think some of the dogs in the dog show had been drinking that!), Idle Sod, Ratae'd, Proper Job and many other more well known names like London Pride, Ruddles County, Spitfire, Speckled Hen...

Apart from the beer, there was a barbeque, fun run, the dog show (well done to Smartie, a chocolate lab who won the overall prize!), cricket & football, live bands and a tug of war (pictured above).

We saw the great covers band, Roosters, on Sunday night. Unfortunately, due to the aforementioned trip to Twickenham, we missed the ceilidh band, Bodgers Mate, on Saturday, but apparently a great time was had by all!

Phil Frost, chair of the Gilmorton Community Playing Fields Association (GCPFA), tells me that approximately £4,800 was raised, slightly up on last year, which is a great effort by all concerned.  Get the date in your diary for next year - it's well worth a visit!

GCPFA's next events are listed on the Events page - world cup football!
