car parking & lutterworth town centre

Yesterday evening I went to the Lutterworth Chamber of Trade meeting, kindly hosted by Steve Ward, the store manager, in the Waitrose cafe (nice cup of tea Steve, thanks!)

The main purpose of the meeting was working out how to encourage more local people to come in to Lutterworth town centre to shop, eat & drink.

The Chamber members are concerned that the car parking charges for more than an hour, coupled with the 'prompt' attention of the parking wardens as soon as the hour has expired, are putting people off from either spending time browsing in Lutterworth, orven from coming in to the town centre at all.

Here at thebestoflutterworth we are really keen to encourage local people to use local businesses, so I'm really interested to know what local people think - do you come in to Lutterworth town centre to shop? What would encourage you to stay longer? Do the car parking charges matter? If you don't shop in Lutterworth, why not? What might encourage you to start to do so?

The Chamber of Trade members will be going to the Lutterworth Town Council meeting on Monday evening (24th) and are keen to encourage the support of all the retailers in town at this meeting, so please come along if you can.
