Finals are always a bit special and in front of a large crowd on a near perfect Holmes park pitch Athletic Ladies were not about to ruin the party. With a 100% record in all competitions this season Athletic started in emphatic style when Helen Busby latched onto a good through ball and easily beat the keeper with a low drive; Busby went onto score three more in her tally of four and rightly earn the MOM trophy. Further goals from captain Neely Simons, Lucy O’Byrne, Ria Stevens, Neely Simons, Kate Dennison, Kayleigh Ball.

Athletic also had three junior mascots for the day to remember: Evie Wilson daughter of sponsor John from Blue Whale logistics, Phoebe Brindley and Lindsay Scott.

Great week for Athletic:

Next Saturday Athletic face there toughest opponents at Hall Park when league favourites Aylestone Park are the visitors and with games in hand can go top.

Athletic Reserves went top of the combination with a one nil result over Birstall United. Liam Barrett did the damage with a well taken free kick that left the keeper helpless.

Athletic midweek floodlit youth team under were also on the goal route when they returned to the top three with an 8 – 1 thrashing of Saffron Dynamo.
