Police are appealing for information following an assault in Croft.

The incident happened at around 9.45pm on Friday August 2, 2013 at a property on Pochin Street.

The victim, a woman in her twenties, was in her back garden when she was approached by a man who had appeared from a nearby jitty.

He has asked for the victim’s husband by name who was not home. As the woman attempted to return to the house, the man pulled her by her hair before she managed to kick him and he ran off.

He is described as white, aged in his thirties or forties, around 6ft tall and of a stocky muscular build. He had short cropped spiky gelled hair and was wearing dark blue top with white writing on it, dark shorts and orange trainers.

PC David O’Sullivan, the investigating officer, said: “This was a particularly distressing incident for the woman involved and thankfully the man made off without causing her serious harm.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the man in the area at the time of this incident. The victim recalls hearing a vehicle pull up on the road prior to the incident so this may be how the man travelled to the area.

“We hope that anyone who thinks they may know the identity of this man will give us a call on 101 or anonymously on Crimestoppers.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC 2115 David O’Sullivan on 101, follow the instructions to leave a message for an officer and when prompted key in their identification number 2115. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, which is free and anonymous, on 0800 555 111.

Calls to 101 cost 15p for the entire call. Some mobile phone providers may charge for the call to Crimestoppers.
