Hinckley & Rugby Building Society is donating £1,250 to the East Midlands children’s hospice Rainbows after almost 4,000 votes were cast at its Annual General Meeting.
This year the Society donated 25 pence for each vote cast via post or in person and 40 pence for each online vote at its 146th AGM, which was held at its head office in Hinckley. Rainbows Children’s Hospice, based at Loughborough, helps children with life limiting and life threatening conditions.
Chief executive Chris White said: “We always like to encourage our members to vote and to do so with the added benefit of generating a donation to Rainbows. Our thanks go to members who voted and enabled the Society to support a wonderful charity very much valued by local people.”
Patricia Brookes, director of fundraising at Rainbows, said: “We are really delighted to benefit from the Hinckley & Rugby’s AGM and would like to send thanks to all the members of the Society who voted and helped Rainbows.
“Without the continuing support of businesses, groups and individuals in the community we would be unable to continue our vital work with life limited children and young people.”
This year the share of votes cast online increased again. The AGM heard that the Society had enjoyed a busy 2011 and started 2012 with a continuing surge in mortgage business.
