Ludlow is one of the best places to visit on earth! One of the most enlightening facts that I found out about Ludlow recently was that it is listed in the book '1000 places to see before you die' compiled by award winning travel writer Patricia Schultz.

Patricia is by no means your every day columnist but a veteran travel writer with 25 years of experience living in New York. She has written for the Wall Street Journal and her book is a New York Times bestseller. So why does Patricia think Ludlow is so special? Her Ludlow entry is quite brief but she explains that the relative remoteness is probably why the town is such a hidden gem which has escaped the blight of the bus tours, urban sprawl and shopping centres. She remarks at the medieval bridges that span the River Terne being frequent subjects for paintings by Turner. She mentions Ludlow Castle built in 1094, which has played host to many important dignitaries and royalty, the many elegant Georgian and Jacobean buildings (over 500 of which are listed) and the numerous fine restaurants, the best in her opinion being The Merchant House.

There is of course much more to Ludlow than this but it is a great acknowledgment from a well respected expert in the field of travel and something that Ludlow and the surrounding community should be very proud of.
