Thinking of skiing for the first time, Here's my advice

I love skiing holidays and I was lucky enough to be sent on a Ski education in Val D’Isere in France 10 years ago. It was superb!

Ski is a product that many travel agents dislike being approached with, but after trying it myself and then further ski holidays in Bulgaria, I enjoy selling Ski. It's a fun product to sell and even more fun product to try.

Everyone should go skiing at least once in their life.

Here are my tips when thinking of booking your first Ski Package and don't forget that there are various considerations to take into account before you book your first ski holiday:

  • You may want to consider hiring ski clothing rather than splurging on kit you may never use again.
  • Choose the right resort, make sure it has a good selection of nursery slopes.
  • To get the best deal, don’t go during peak times (Christmas, School holidays or while Ski championships are on) the less crowded the slopes are the lower the price should generally be. Saying that, it is great fun being away in a resort where Ski championships are taking place or at a nearby resort, so for details of when they are and where, just contact me.
  • It is a good to pre-book your ski lessons and equipment at the time of booking or before you travel. A Learn to ski/Snow Board package includes:

    Skis/Board, Poles & Boots

    • Lift Pass (Excluding Austria)
    • Tuition

This is an example of a typical first day as a beginner:

  • 7am Breakfast - have a hearty breakfast to set you up for the day.
  • 8am Get kitted out - meet your Representative at the ski hire shop to pick up your ski/board & boots for the week. You will keep the same skis and these can be stored at your hotel in the evenings.
  • 9am Head to the slopes and the ski school meeting point.
  • 10am You will be allocated into groups to begin your first ski lesson!
  • 1pm Stop for lunch and a rest at a mountain restaurant.
  • 2pm If you have afternoon classes, continue your lessons. If not, you can practice what you’ve learnt in the morning.
  • 4-7pm Time to enjoy some well deserved après-ski.
