Summer Days on Lowestoft Beach

We are so very lucky in Lowestoft to have such a superb, award winning Blue Flag beach right on our doorstep. And when the sun appeared during the school holidays last week there was no better place to be!

Armed with buckets, spades and a modest picnic we made our way down to the golden sands beside Claremont Pier and spent a wonderful day enjoying the simple things in life.... the children building sand castles that wouldn't look out of place on 'Grand Designs' and me... doing a spot of people watching and soaking up the rays... ah bliss.

The great thing is, it doesn't cost a thing, except perhaps for the odd ice-cream or two!

So what's the downside?  ...Well okay, so the sea wasn't VERY warm (eek!) but I soon thawed out when the kids decided to bury me in the sand!!! A small price to pay.

We finally left, tired but extremely happy, having spent a fantastic family day at the seaside..... It just goes to show that the BEST things in life really are free!
