Eleven year old Alisha Giles and her brother, Rhys from Lowestoft have such a love for furry friends of the four legged variety that they were inspired to help raise money for a local charity, 'Meadow Green Dog Rescue Centre'.

Meadow Green Dog Rescue, based in Loddon, provide a comfortable and safe refuge for dogs which have been abandoned by their owners whilst they attempt to find them new homes.

Not content with having already raised over £50 for the charity, through holding a sponsored ball throwing event in Normanston Park, Lowestoft, the youngsters were looking for other ways to help their chosen cause...

When their Gran, Sandra (herself the owner of rescue dogs) suggested producing a calendar featuring some of the adorable rescue dogs who have now been successfully re-homed, the kids couldn't wait to get started!

Months later, all the hard work and hours of time put in by Alisha, Rhys and Sandra have finally paid off as the first copies of their 2014 calendar come hot off the press this week. The calendar will then be distributed to outlets all over Lowestoft (and beyond).

On sale at just £2.50 each, these crackingly good canine calendars are set to be snapped up very quickly - and with ALL the proceeds going to the Meadow Green Dog Rescue Centre, the charity will truly benefit from this fabulous fund raising initiative...

The calendars will be available from the following outlets from Saturday 25th May:

  • All Pets, Bevan Street Lowestoft Coastline Vets, Carlton Colville.
  • Three Rivers Vets, Beccles
  • Delmar Pet and Garden Centre, Ashburnham Way, Lowestoft
  • Godfreys, Lowestoft
  • GlamR Hair and Beauty, Bridge Road, Oulton Broad
  • Bonnies Dog Grooming, South Lowestoft

...thebestof Lowestoft would like to congratulate Alisha and Rhys on their brilliant idea and taking this challenging project forward. We wish them the very best of luck, and look forward to reporting back on how much money they manage to raise.
