The whole of Lowestoft is overjoyed that local boxer Anthony Ogogo has won his quarter final bout against German Stefan Hartel.

Ogogo's victory never looked in doubt even before he entered the ring at London's Excel Arena.

As soon as he was introduced to the partisan crowd the roof was raised by an almighty roar - the nation was well and truly behind  him.

After the first round Ogogo was leading by 5 points to 2 and was landing some good combinations of punches.

Round two got even better has he opened his lead to 10 points to 6.

Just one more three minute round to go before Ogogo could secure a minimum Bronze medal.

As Ogogo started to tire Hartel landed more punches and looked like he may be closing the points gap.

The clock seemd to go into slow motion as it reached one minute to go. 30 seconds left and Ogogolanded some brilliant punches surely sealing his victory.

And he did!

Winning by 15 points to 10, there was no need for count-back and no need to get the judges to decide - this was a clear victory for the Lowestoft boxer.

His local fans crowded into Nirvana Fitness - his Lowestoft training base - to witness this brilliant local boxer on the big screen.

Dare we start to dream of stamps and gold postboxes...
