Bmi has come up with a novel way to attract passengers - introducing freshly made cakes on board flights for customers buying flexible economy tickets.
Slices of hand-made victoria sponge, lemon drizzle and carrot cake are now being served on all UK, Ireland ahd Hanover flights departing between 1000 and noon, and 1350 - 1700.
The airline will also try to set itself apart from other scheduled carriers by offering complimentary hot food in economy class on European flights.
