The Kitchen Shop, Lichfield

I wanted to purchase a couple of items that appeared to be out of stock. The store called me and stated that they would order one of my items and that they had found the other item instore and would reserve it for me until my ordered item arrived. Today I received a call from the store and was told that they had not got the correct item instore after all and that they were not prepared to order it for me as they would have to place a minimum order with the manufacturer. How they dealt with this situation was another story - the person I spoke to was unapologetic until nearing the end of a 36 minute conversation, was basically saying that it was my fault that they had incorrectly said the item was instore & would be reserved for me. He was also not prepared to post out the ordered item now that it had arrived instore and not prepared to knock a small amount off the price as a gesture of good will. I tried to ask for a refund of the ordered item, saying I would purhase both items elsewhere, but I was told I would lose 20% of the cost. I wanted to give my business to a local store instead of ordering the items off the iinternet and I am very disappointed with the service regarding the item ordered and more importantly I am disappointed with the way the person I spoke to was very obstructive and not prepared to take responsibility for the error or do anything to help put the situation right. I asked to speak to the Manager but was told I would have to put my complaint in writing. I thought I would vote with this review and with my feet - I wont be using that store again.
