My husband and I visited here on our way to Shrewsbury, our main reason being my husband was coming to a dedication service the following week and was taking another ( disabled ) veteran with him.
It was pouring with rain when we arrived so we had a look round inside, checking out the disabled facilities, which are the best I've ever seen ( I am disabled). We then took advantage of the self service restaurant, it was excellent we had a light meal which was Superb. Due to the weather my husband had a quick walk to where he would be going the following week. This done we left but returned 3 days later on our way home to have a good look round as the sun was out.
Parking is £3 and there are plenty of spaces both for disabled and non disabled. Entrance is free but you can pay for a tour on a land train which was £6 and takes approximately 45 minutes. We did not take the tour,as I had my scooter with me. Everywhere was accessible and we spent a good 2 hours looking round. The Wall with all the names of those that have Fallen plus the empty space for more names to be added was a poignant reminder of how senseless war is.
Again we ate in the self service restaurant, this time having a full lunch, the food was lovely and is not over priced.
As with all places there is the inevitable Gift Shop which had some lovely items.
Would we visit again? The answer to that is Yes.
My husband went back for the service and was quite annoyed that the Household Cavalry decided to have their reception afterwards at a local Hotel and not at the Arboretum, commenting that having had 2 lovely meals at the Arboretum he was not impressed with sandwiches and a sausage roll!!

The National Memorial Arboretum is one of the most moving places I have visited in the UK. There are memorials for every event, it is not just aimed at the military and other uniformed services, if you want to remember anything you could find it here. If there isn’t a memorial to sit and ponder by then you will find a quiet spot just to sit.
The staff are very helpful and informative about the whole site and will help locate any specific memorial you may be looking for. Wear sturdy shoes/boots as a lot of the site does not have footpaths and the grass can be very wet.
It will be of interest to all ages young and old and you can spend hours here just soaking up the history of conflicts and loss. As I said it is a very moving experience.

We visited recently as there was a sensory event on for pre-school children.
For starters the event was good and the facilities excellent for the children.
We then had a wander round the grounds. There gardens are beautiful and very well maintained and the memorials are beautiful too. There was a beautiful man made stream to hollow down a path and there is a small Park for older children.
They do have a land train however we didn't have time to go in this.
The cafe was well stocked with a large choice of food and some delicious cakes! There was plenty of seating both inside and outside.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
Really worth a visit especially on a sunny day.

We couldn't visit Lichfield without visiting the National Memorial Arboretum. At a cost of just £3 parking, it was free to walk around the grounds. There was a small cost for the museum but we didn't go there.
There is the option of a train with a running commentary.
Good weather would be preferable for walking around as a lot is on the grass but there are footpaths too.
There is a large cafe and a gift shop.
Allow plenty of time. We spent 3 hours there and could easily have spent the whole day.
A peaceful, thought provoking, informative place to visit.

A truly thought provoking and memorable place. Lots to see and walk around. Our daughter enjoyed walking around the trench and carrying her back pack around the arboretum. A place every one should visit!

This is a place everyone should visit and pay homage to those gone before. It is a very peaceful place and you cannot help but be touched by the memorials. The Post World War 2 Memorial is awe inspiring. It is very thought provoking when you see how many names are entered here How many young people have made the ultimate sacrifice in the quest for peace. The gardens are immaculate showing great respect for those remembered here.
There is no charge to visit but a £3 car park charge, a minute amount to pay for a place such as this.
There is a restaurant and coffee shop and a lovely gift shop with 100% of sales going towards the care and upkeep of this very special place.

Whatever your views on Britain's military history, you cannot fail to be impressed and moved by the sheer range of the many memorials (largely but not exclusively dedicated the armed services) and the beautiful setting. If you have a limited amount of time,It's worth buying a map (£3) which gives you a choice of 3 walks of different lengths that take in most of the most important ,memorials. There's a road train for the less mobile. Possibly the 'Shot At Dawn' memorial leaves the deepest impression.

On entering we received a very friendly welcome and as we suffer from disability's were advised to use the golf cart to view the site . this we then did after the service in the Chapel ( not to be missed ) and had a very pleasant tour of the grounds with a young lady explaining the various monuments .After a very good lunch in the Restaurant we had a ride on the train with a very nice commentary on what we saw. Finally we made our way to the Mound and as there are many steps up a golf trolley was requested and took us up and down . This is a Venue all should see and even if you are disabled they make it possible for all.

The NMA is a wonderful place to visit & is a must if in the area. There is so much history. The new extended facilities make a big difference. I highly recommend the Arboretum.

The memorial was dedicated on 17 September in a splendid ceremony. There were over 450 attendees and many friends that I served with were there so we had a lively reunion.

Finally got to visit, and certainly wasn't disappointed, this is a very fitting memorial to our armed services and various civilian organisations, being ex military I found the colle tion of memorials and exhibitions fascinating, the on site facilities are excellent, and surprisingly not expensive, if your going to visit don't forget the camera, there literally hundreds of memorials to view, if the weather's nice then you would do well to take a picnic and make the most of the wonderful surroundings

What an incredible place. I strongly disagree with most of the bad reviews of the National Memorial Arboretum. Having served myself, as has my Husband, I have wanted to visit for a long while. We are both very pleased we did. We showed up on a Wednesday morning, £3 car parking, free entry, can't complain. There are then a lot of options you could pick to enable you to see the site in tour form. There is a land train (£3) with a pre-recorded tour which seemed very popular with the older population. You could buy a guide book and use an audio guide to walk the grounds yourself. Or as we did, you can pay for a volunteer to wander the site with you (£3). It was very interesting being able to actually ask questions and speak to someone about the site, I do recommend it and you could see the chap was very passionate about the place & knew his stuff! There is an exhibit you can visit with a temporary exhibit at the back. £5 each, not much to it but good to look at. There are talks and services scheduled across the day (see online or on entry for details) which are short, to the point & very informative. We saw the Far East PoW talk and another. The only downside is that we'd have liked to visit all talks and services during our visit but it isn't possible as all of the times clash and are around lunchtime! We did find this quite disappointing.
I have been to some large military cemeteries previously but nothing on such a grand scale as this. The memorials are quite something. The one in particular that moved me was the memorial to the soldiers killed in Afghanistan as I remember it from when I went to see it myself in Bastion. That along with the newest Armed Forces Memorial just made my hair stand on end. Absolutely incredible. We opted to have lunch here in the cafe too. Good decision, it was lovely! We don't usually eat anywhere touristy as it's usually expensive with rubbish food, this place was a bit costly as expected, however the food was just perfect, well worth it. Overall we spent the best part of a day here and didn't even come close to seeing everything or even getting anywhere near around the whole site! We will definitely visit again if in the area. Thank you very much to the volunteers.

Well worth a visit when passing - accessible from many roads. Not signed well from A38. £3 parking all day, free entry. A special dog walking route takes you past many of the memorials, but then put dog in car to look at some more. Memorials in all shapes and sizes - clearly lots of love and memory's across the large site.

Visited yesterday. There is so much to see, we only saw about half of it, if that. Free parking and entrance, although they rely on donations to keep it free. We chose to do the land train tour, which is definitely advisable if you want to see as much as possible in one day. This takes fifty minutes and has a prerecord end commentary. There is a restaurant and coffee shop, and even though it was busy there were plenty of seats to sit down and eat/drink. There are lots of benches to sit and rest as you walk amongst the different memorials. It is beautifully maintained and there are some poignant memorials to see. We will definitely be back to see the ones we didn't have time for!

Representing my Father who took part in the Berlin Airlift at the rededication of the memorial at the NMA.
Car park is way too small for the facility so had to use the overflow car park just down the road. Hopefully a larger car park will be provided but the rest of the site is fine.
Literally a few hundred memorials to visit and read about.
Some are quite enlightening. A chance to see memorials pertinent to me as some people I knew are commemorated on them.
Very humbling experience.
The cafe, top notch and good prices and the exhibitions also good.
Also has a well stocked shop and a first class experience.

So parking is £3 and the museum it's self is free to get in. Every day at 11 they hold a service of some form or so I was told when I visited. We went on a Sunday and got to see a beautiful service with cadets and some old RAF men who were practising for a service next year. The service was beautiful and the band was very very good! We managed to see so much in a day walking around but also missed so much too! It isn't possible to do in a day at all! The place is so big and some many different memorials are there that you can't expect to see them all but we did manage to get around and see a fair few. There's so much to read and for £3 you also get a map that tells you routes to take and where to find the biggest memorials. The shot at dawn really was breath taking and for once my corp was recognised which was lovely to see. The place has such a warm feel throughout and the staff couldn't be more helpful. There is a cafe and a small coffee shop for a light lunch half way through the day. I suggest going early as you will have so much to see and you won't want to leave until it closes! Guided tours are offered but I do believe in walking around at your own pace. This isn't a place I would take kids as they will become bored but it's a place you can go in any weather.

Almost a full day spent in awe visiting a lot of the memorials. Difficult to see each one in one visit but that's a good excuse to go back. It all certainly makes you think about the horrors of conflict
It's all very well thought out and well kept. The staff were really good , keen and full of information .
Excellent cafeteria too, wide selection of food at reasonable prices.

Such a serene and moving place to visit, the staff were all very helpful and knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble. This place was on my friend's "bucket list" and I am so glad to have visited as well. The grounds and monuments were all beautifully maintained, a real tribute to everyone who works and volunteers there.

I first visited this place when it was still being developed the plants were just going in the trees everything was brand new and me and my husband went to the carol service and we thoroughly enjoyed it we went around the grounds and my husband was former Royal Artillery and we went into his section and it was magical it was as though every soldier who had died wearing that uniform and serving his country were being remembered and being recognised for their bravery their commitment and for making our lives easier thanks to their professionalism. God bless you

If you are anywhere in the area, the NMA IS A MUST VISIT

regular services held in the chapel, the land train gives a good overview of the site (150+ acres) so wear COMFY SHOES

Poignant, thought provoking and humbling , the NMA simply blew us away

On reflection, an uplifting experience and certainly a place to visit again and again and again

A place for all seasons

Please go.. you will not be disappointed
