The house is beautiful and the childhood museum is fantastic for the children, young and old, there's a walk around the garden and plenty of activities around the cafe area, take a picnic as there are plenty of tables and grass area near the lake. A really good day out.

Playground: Plenty of activities on offer for free

Picnic area: An abundance of tables and lots of lawn at the back of the house

Great place to visit. Relaxing and enjoyable. We went with a baby and really enjoyed the stick man trail.

Dog-friendliness: All dogs welcome. There are only restrictions for the big war memorial and they need to be on lead.

We had a buggy ride with ‘lovely Clive’ as our guide. He was so well informed that we were able to fully appreciate the symbolism and beauty of the Arboretum. We came away overawed by the huge sacrifice of those who died to keep us safe.

A fantastic and moving experience far exceeded a war memorial. The breadth of memorials was spectacular. An immaculately presented venue with exceptional staff. A must visit. As a retired Police Officer and Falklands Veteran it was amazing on a personal basis. Thank You

Dog-friendliness: A really great place to take your four legged friend. But please keep them on a short lead and respect the venue. You can't take pooch into the main memorial but that is acceptable.

Five-Star Review: National Memorial Arboretum (Alrewas, Staffordshire)

I recently had the privilege of attending the D Day parade at the National Memorial Arboretum with Merthyr Military Preparation College, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. As a veteran, this event held profound meaning for me, and the Arboretum provided the perfect setting to honor and remember our heroes.

The grounds are impeccably maintained, offering a serene and respectful atmosphere that truly honors the memory of those who served. The various memorials are beautifully designed and thoughtfully placed, allowing for reflection and reverence.

For the learners from Merthyr Military Preparation College, this experience was invaluable. It offered them a unique opportunity to connect with history in a meaningful way, and the staff at the Arboretum were incredibly accommodating, ensuring that the visit was educational and inspiring.

The organization of the D Day parade was flawless, with moving tributes and ceremonies that left a lasting impact on all attendees. The Arboretum’s dedication to preserving the memory of our armed forces is evident in every aspect of their work.

I highly recommend the National Memorial Arboretum to anyone looking to pay their respects, learn about our military history, or simply enjoy a peaceful and poignant visit. This place is a national treasure, and I am grateful for the experience. Five stars, without a doubt.
