Lasting impression: conservation-focused zoo, founded by Gerald Durell, filled with amazing animals whose futures are under threat

Our experience: we love this wildlife park... We've been a couple of times and found different things to explore and the animals are fascinating to watch. The staff were happy to talk about the animals and there seemed to be plenty for the whole family, the first time we went, we loved the tamarin monkeys running above our heads in the trees and the next time, we found the lemurs and thought they were gorgeous. If you're quiet and patient, the aye aye enclosures are fascinating. The food in the cafe was generous and hearty and we've been unable to walk through the charity shop at the exit without finding something to buy.

The verdict: we will definitely keep going back. Apart from being a great place to spend time, we love how it is conservation-focused and also, that we learn something new each time we go.

Well maintained zoo and conservation park, home to monkeys, exotic birds, rather huge bats and lots of other animals. Enclosures for monkeys were quite leafy, so you sometimes had to be patient and wait a while to spot movement in the trees. Overall animals seemed well looked after with plenty of room to roam. We went in early July when it was pretty quiet apart from the odd school group. Cafe serves very generous portions of cake which is always a plus in my book.

People need to remember that this is a wildlife park aimed at protecting endangered species and promoting captive breeding with a view of re-introducing these species into the wild.

Gerald Durrell was a man of vision, he believed that in an ideal world there would be no zoos and Lee Durrell has done everything to keep her husband's dream alive. The animals kept here are here to ensure that their species survives and, hopefully, thrives.

A visit to Durrell will not disappoint, the animals are treated with the utmost care and respect and the staff are friendly and more than willing to share their knowledge with the visitors.

This is among the best wildlife parks in the world, and a must see if you are visiting Jersey.

There are many animals and birds such as gorillas, bears, orangutans, lemurs, reptiles, aye-aye, meerkats, monkeys and tamarins.

There's also eco-tourist accommodation, and a restaurant.

man's vision. Keep up the good work.

I can see why Durrell has such a great reputation, we visited during a recent holiday and while the weather was not very good we really enjoyed our visit and wish Durrell well in their on-going efforts to save endangered species.

Durrell is a wonderful organisation and a great asset to Jersey. What better way to spend a few hours on a nice day, there is always something going on of interest. Durrell needs our support, why not take out an annual membership so that you can visit whenever you wish?
