When the Pit Stop 2000 projectwaslaunched with the objectiveof preventative work with young people at risk of engagingincrime, 30 enthusiastic young people turned up for our first session. We now have over 20,000 visitors each year, all benefiting from the wide range of activities, care and support that is offered to them.
In recognition of the work undertaken by the whole team at Pit Stop 2000 .....
we are proud to have received The Duke of York's Community Initiative Award in recognition of best practice in community enterprise and leadership.
Adrian Woods, Pit Stops Operations Manager was awarded MBE in The Queen's 2008 New Years honours list for Services to disadvantaged young people in our area.
in May 2008 Adrian was the recepient of the 'Citizen of the Year' Award from Mayor of Calderdale for his commitment and dedication to the youth of Calderdale
and we have been mentioned in the Prime Minister's speeches as an example of 'Local Heroes' so necessary in pulling communities together.

Young people need stability and a chance to develop confidence as well as learn practical new skills. Our aim is to help them to build self-esteem,be self-sufficient and gain employment skills.
We achieve this through a programme of activities and accreditations.
Our activities currently include:
Canoeing/gorge walking/rock climbing
IT based around digital photography
Healthy eating and cookery
The Music Studio
We offer national accreditations in:

Through the generosity of the community and businesses, we have been able to purchase special equipement such as specially adapted canoes and go-karts to accommodate the growing number of physically disadvantaged young people that have been introduced to us.
