The Vic pub is quite simply the friendliest pub in the jewel in the crown of N. Herts and deserves the award because landlady Victoria also does more than her share to promote other businesses, sourcing her food locally, promoting events around the town and being prepared to drop everything when you need a hand - well, not everything, but you know what I mean.

What I LOVE about the Vic...
I have only recently been introduced to the Vic but have enjoyed every visit there. My first time was a drink after work... I have since gone back to meet friends & family... to spend new years eve & more recently to attend a live gig! Every visit was memorable. A beautifully decorated pub with great, friendly service!

For me, the Victoria is what Hitchin is all about - Understated, caring, community based, cosy - not too showy with a Sixth form common room kinda vibe! Just like a true best mate, they invite you for dinner on a Monday night and are just down the road when you need them!
My favourite night ever, twas the weekend before Christmas, the snow laid deep and crisp and even and the place was rocking! The windows were all steamed up and the only thing visable was the faint twinkle of the Christmas lights. We opened the door, and BAM! Christmas had started early!

The Victoria serves 5 star food at budget prices (top tip, try the Monday night menu at just £5.50)
Whether you are looking for a quite corner to enjoy a wonderful pint or a fun filled evening at one of their many music events, in short this place has it all.

Whenever I go to the Victoria I feel as though I an enveloped by a lovely warm duvet! The atmosphere has a kindly, comfortable & heart warming feeling. Feeling blue? Go there. Feeling happy? Go there.

Once upon a time there were two old bears from Hitchin who drank in the Victoria. "Who's been drinking in my local" said old woman bear finishing off the last of the brandy. "Who's been drinking in the Victoria and finishing off all the real ale" said old man bear. Well, I don't care, for the Victoria is the best pub in Hitchin!!
