The Dr Hadwen Trust is a wonderful charity which conducts life-saving medical research but never uses animals in its tests. Instead, Dr Hadwen has been instrumental in finding alternatives to animal testing and has saved many lives without cruelty to animals. If you love animals and want to help people as well, this is a fantastic charity to support!

Dr Hadwen Trust for humane research is ahead of its time and a special organisation. Leading non animal testing into the future.

In view of what has happened, highlighted in the news, regarding horse meat in our foods, this draws attention to what we don't see or know what happens to our foods, cosmetics and medicines.

Testing on animals is an unknown dark art and DHT is highlighting the unnecessary practice by successfully not doing this.

I recommend the Dr Hadwen Trust because it supports methods of research into medical complaints which do not require the use of experimentation on live animals. I strongly believe that there is no long any need, financial or otherwise, to deliberately cause pain and suffering upon sentient beings in the name of any cause whatsoever. We have research methods today e.g. computer modelling which make pain, mutiliation and suffering completely redundant. The Dr Hadwen Trust is a beacon of hope for all those of us who have compassion for our fellow creatures.

Dr Hadwen Trust is the only charity in the UK that has the foresight for moving forward into the 21st centuary regarding discovering new ways to treat human diseases without causing suffering to animals. The charity has only been in business since 1970 and yet now, only 43 years later, they have gained respect for their ethics, their knowledge and their leading authority on the subject of non animal experimentation from scientists in universities, hospitals and research centres across the world. Bearing in mind there are only 8 paid members of this dedicated charity with a number of willing volunteers that push this charity forward. The charity receives no state aid, all funding comes from public support. The Dr Hadwen Trust team work diligently and passionately for their cause and very little money they bring in is spent on their salaries and the rent for the building. Be proud, Hitchin, that they work in your lovely market town and spread the word about them. DHT will make you famous.

I think the Dr Hadwen Trust is a marvellous Charity that deserves far more recognition. It is a practical, effective and efficient organisation with totally dedicated staff and loyal supporters. The innovative research projects it funds have far-reaching benefits. It helps people without hurting animals and will save time, money and lives in medical research.

Dr Hadwen Trust for Humane Research (DHT) are a very important charity as they help prevent the use of animals in experiments by researching alternative methods.

Did you know that cancer research has been a history of curing cancer in the mouse...We have cured mice of cancer for decades--and it simply didn't work in humans.

The more people around the world that get to know the positive outcome of NONE animal experiments the better we will all be, and DHT go a long was towards that.

Dr Hadwen Trust is a brilliant charity that funds medical research that does not involve the use of animals. This is positive on two levels. Firstly, animal lives can be saved by using more progressive methods and secondly, people benefit from more accurate data being provided by alternative means.

I think the Dr Hadwen Trust should win "The Best In Hitchin" because it is a charity which truly makes a difference. Not only does its research into non-naimal testing save the lives of millions of innocent animals but it also continually seeks to develop and fund alternative testing methods which in turn will save the lives of countless humans. Animals and humans are physiologically different and testing on one species has no scientific basis for use on another. In fact drugs tested on animals have in many cases had serious negative effects when used on humans. The Dr Hadwen Trust is working for the benefit of humans whilst protecting defenceless animals - including domestic animals such as cats and dogs.

Dr Hadwen Trust is a charity which not only states its opposition to animals being used in medical research but actually supports and funds humane, scientific experimentation and research which, equally crucially, is relevant to humans.

Integrity meets innovation. Go support!

I would like to nominate Dr Hadwen Trust for the best business Hitchin award- they are not just local, not just national, but world leaders in funding animal replacement science!

Last month they announced the World's First Professorial Chair of animal replacement science together with Queen Mary University, University of London. The announcement was made at the Houses of Parliament. Dr Hadwen Trust represents a bridge between medical science and animal welfare- instead of complaining about things, they are working with scientists and researchers to find answers to major devastating diseases, without using animals.

I think they should win because they are putting Hitchin on the World Map as the home of Animal Replacement Science funding, and because there are only 6 of them in the office full time! Also because as a charity they are streamlined and efficient without wasting the money that they raise.

I am proud to be associated with the DHT for the monumental work it carries out to seek alternatives to animal research and promote good science. This sterling work is done by discussion and persuasion, meeting scientists and encouraging different approaches through reasoned arguement. Those involved with this fine charity are dedicated and committed, not closed and confrontational, as they realise that the way forward is through demonstrating the effectiveness of non-animal methods and challenging scientists to move from established unreliable research to seeking future useful humane methods. What benefits the animals will also benefit humanity; this is a scenario for which we should surely all strive.

The Dr. Hadwen Trust differ from other anti-vivisevtion charities in that that actively campaign for, and support, successful and effective alternatives. They fund a variety of research projects, with cancer and pain relief being two examples.

They really care about promoting human health and finding a cure for human disease by making medical research not only species relevant but cruelty-free. It's a win win situation for humans and animals:)

This Charity has worked tirelessly to try to end the appalling practice of vivisection in this country and abroad. They are fighting against a very rich opponant, in terms of the Pharmaceutical Industry, and Government policy makers. This has made for a tough task over the years, but they have stuck to it and have shown time and again that the process is totally wrong/inhumane and completely unnecessary. Dr Hadwen Trust deserve to gain every accolade they can as they are fighting for those who cannot speak for themselves.

DHT steadfastly and quietly work to create humane alternatives to Animal tests in Research to benefit everyone: the animals who are spared; the patients for whom the research is so well intentioned; the researchers by giving them novel and human-specific models for more accurate prediction of responses. Win-win!

In this 21st century, research is a highly emotive issue.

People no longer believe it is acceptable to harm animals in experiments but
are made to feel that it is a necessary evil to find cures for human diseases.

Those who now question the ethics of it are often ridiculed.

The Dr. Hadwen Trust tirelessly funds and supports forward thinking scientists and organisations that already use non-animal research methods and/or are developing them.

This has to be the future of ethical research and I believe that, if all scientists concentrated on developing non-animal methods, the most wonderful discoveries and cures would soon follow.

The Dr. Hadwen Trust is a wonderful charity that cares deeply about people and animals and are working hard to make the world a better place for all of us.

The Trust has done an amazing job in promoting non-animal research, proving that cruel animal testing has no part in modern medical practice.

The Dr Hadwen Trust funds the development of non-animal based methods of medical research and works to raise awareness of the need to replace the use of animals in medical experiments with more relevant and humane alternatives. The Dr Hadwen Trust continues to make an invaluable contribution towards reducing and ultimately ending the suffering of animals in medical research, and towards the progression of medical science.

It is so important to support a charity that does vital research into life-threatening human diseases, knowing that no laboratory animals are going to suffer in the process. This is the future of medical research and will lead to breakthroughs in medicine far quicker than using animals to experiment on.

Their sole aim as well as ending the use of animals in experimentation is to actively look for and promotie cruelty-free and scientifically proven alternatives.

Dr Hadwen's Trust is an ethical research company and charity which has pioneered and promoted alternatives to animal research and is based in Hitchen.

It is funded by donations, legacies and the selling of goods from its shop.

By being focused, determined and true to its ethics it has developed approaches using human cells and computer generated models in the areas of breast and skin cancers, kidney disease and asthma. This has meant that viable alternatives which do not use animals have been found and accepted within the scientific community.

If you want to support a business which is ethical and benefits both humans and animals choose DHT. Go on line and either become a donor and or see what is on offer in their shop.
Its the best way to give to a charity whilst funding research which does not involve cruelty to animals but which has proven benefits both actual and emergent in a range of human medical conditions and diseases.
