They do a unique job that's really important. Testing on animals de-humanises us all, even though the people who conduct the tests undoubtedly do so to help humans. The Dr Hadwen Trust promotes sensible and realistic alternatives to animal testing and educate us all in the process.

We live in the 21st Century and need charities like DHT to make this statement valid unfortunately. It is barbaric to still be testing on animals when this charity proves there are indeed alternatives to this murder. It is obvious to anyone that vivisection is not reliable when considering human DNA. Animal testing has failed to find cures for widespread illnesses such as Alzheimer's disease and cancer so it does not work! The Dr Hadwen Trust does a fantastic job in promoting cruelty free practice to find true cures to many ailments. They are evidence that we do not need to be killing millions of innocent lives a year in the United Kingdom alone. Animal experimentation must stop because it is inhumane and does not work. The Dr Hadwen Trust is a lifeline for these poor animals locked in laboratories.

I love that DHT fund humane medical research and so help people AND animals!

They work tirelessly to replace the use of animals in research by developing alternative methods. Animal experimentation is unreliable, inefficient, cruel and unnecessary in this day and age. Dr Hadwen Trust's work will and has prevented the deaths and suffering of many animals. They deserve the award!!

The DHT is a group of trusted scientists who explain, research and promote alternatives to using animals for testing in medical science. British people love animals and would be totally apalled if they knew what goes on behind closed doors in their name. The DHTmeans this is totally unnecessary and their work will make it OK to be proud to be British.

AS SOMEONE WITH A MEDICAL CONDITION, I REALIZE THE IMPORTANCE OF ACCURATE,SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH FOR PEOPLE LIKE MYSELF. i AM ALSO CONSCIOUS OF THE IMPORTANCE OF ANIMAL WELFARE AND THE IMPORTANT ROLE ANIMALS HAVE PLAYED IN MY LIFE AND MY FAMILIES LIVES. WE HAVE ALWAYS HAD DOGS AND CATS AND THEY ARE AN IMPORTANT PART OF OUR LIVES. ALL ANIMALS DESERVE TO BE TREATED WITH RESPECT,JUST AS WE WOULD WISH TO BE TREATED.THIS IS WHERE THE DR. HADWEN TRUST STEPS IN. IT PROVIDES 21ST CENTURY RESEARCH INTO HUMAN ILLNESS,USING MODERN,RELEVANT RESEARCH INTO DISEASES WITHOUT INFLICTING PSEUDO HUMAN ILLNESS INTO ANIMAL MODELS.APART FROM THE BARBARITY OF INFLICTING PHYSICAL AND MENTAL SUFFERING ON ANIMALS, THE RESULTS ARE MISLEADING.A NEGATIVE OR POSITIVE RESULT IN AN ANIMAL COULD BE THE OTHER WAY ROUND ONCE USED IN HUMANS. I DO NOT SUPPORT BAD SCIENCE AND CRUELTY. THANK YOU DHT.

CARDIFF.

DHT fund and promote important research using non animal experiments. Funding either the research or the techniques, providing safer more humane alternatives instead of the cruel and inhumane use of animals. The way forwards in finding new treatment, drugs and procedures for the human race.

I love it that rather than purely being against animal experimentation, the Dr Hadwen Trust is actively involved in promoting alternatives and in combining both science and ethics offers a humane choice. It is the UK's leading non-animal medical research charity working tirelessly to ensure a future where no animal is abused in the name of science.

As a staunch advocate of non-animal testing of drugs, household products, perfumes, etc., I find DHT to be the leader in educating the public about this belief. They also spend my donations in the best way possible, by sponsoring research into alternative, non-animal testing procedures. Their success in this field makes it essential that they continue and grow. I think that they are the best in Hitchin!

This charity is very important to me since as a charity with a vegan related ethical base it offers me the chance to support medical research which is within the ethical bounds that I aspire to. It is very important to me that science can progress within cutlure that rejects animal exploitation, the Dr Hadwen Trust is one of the charities that allows me to take part in supporting advances that should be good for the human race and also respect other species, all part of the cultural way forward that I believe in. It is my conviction that such research is a solid way to a holistic healthy society.

Compassionate ,informative, forward-thinking charity showing there are realistic, practical alternatives to testing animals for both medical and cosmetic reasons.

Appeals from charities funding research into killer diseases, or debilitating conditions are deeply moving.

The plight of laboratory animals living a short life of intense pain and trauma in captivity is equally distressing.

The great thing about Dr Hadwen Trust is that we no longer need make an agonising choice between alleviating human and animal suffering - we can do both at once.

The Dr Hadwen Trust ensures we are moving towards a day when inflicting pain on animals is not necessary to cure human diseases - and indeed in many cases devises treatments and experiments which are more scientifically grounded, effective, and safe than their animal-tested alternatives.

We should be very proud that the world centre of this ground breaking work is in Hitchen!

This is the most amazing charity funding experiments that do not involve animals, this means that they spare animal lives, do not torture animals and yet they benefit humans with their discoveries. For hundreds of years animals have been abused and killed in experiments to find cures for human ailments. But animals are not humans and their bodies react differently. The Dr. Hadwen Trust funds experiments that truly make progress in fighting human conditions.

Since the Dr Hadwen Trust was founded in 1970 it has pushed forward the boundaries of medical research without the need for animal experimentation. It has worked tirelessly to support universities, hospitals and research organisations to find cures and further our understanding of disease and devastating human illnesses. How wonderful it is that this work is being carried out without the need for animals to suffer. The Dr Hadwen Trust is indeed a remarkable charity, it helps humans whilst showing animals humanity.
I am a proud supporter of the Dr Hadwen Trust and I am sure that Hitchen should be proud to be associated with it too.

I support their continuing campaigns to stop for ever horrendous and unnecessary testing on innocent animals for medical research. They have shown for years that there are alternatives to animal testing, that successful and safer treatment can be assured without the cruelty involving testing on animals. Afterall, animals' dns and human dna do not match
Dr. Hadwen has MPs on their side, as well as huge public support. They have helped convince EU to completely ban animal testing on cosmetics, including ingredients tested elsewhere, which is a huge breakthrough.

The Trust's work makes people question animal experimentation: would humans like to be treated in this way? Just because humans can do something, doesn't mean they should. The trust informs, educates and saves animals' lives by coming up with alternatives. Ground breaking, year in, year out. A local charity of which Hitchin can be so proud.

Human beings have conflicting beliefs and opinions - this is human nature and thank goodness in the UK we have the freedom to voice our varying opinions.

Most people will never do any more than voice what they believe to be right or wrong.

There is only a very small percentage of people that will ever actually take action and create a solution to support their beliefs, providing others with similar views with a vehicle to champion what they believe to be the right thing. I support the Dr Hadwen Trust because they are in that small minority of 'doers'.

Thousands and thousands of people including various academics and scientists support the fact that medical advancement is being hindered by the use of animals in research. Putting the ethics of this argument aside, the Dr Hadwen Trust are an organisation that was created to focus on the advancement of medicine without the use of animals. The founders saw a problem and they created a solution, or some might prefer to say an alternative solution.

Many will just voice their personal beliefs and arguments, but the Dr Hadewn Trust have quietly championed a different way of continuing the fight to find cures and treatments for human disease and illness. Just research their website and you will see the results that they have either directly or in-directly achieved. The results speak for themselves.

I greatly admire the Dr Hadwen Trust and recommend them for the Best of Hitchin Award because they are peaceful doers that have achieved remarkable things both for humans and animals, and they will continue to do so. I am proud to have this charity based locally.

Animals are notoriously unrepresented. This charity is a fantastic example of a charity that not only raises funds to help current animals suffering, they are also funding and working hard to develop viable alternatives to animal testing for medicine. Animal testing is unreliable and has led to human deaths - non animal alternatives are vital, but very underfunded. The Dr Hadwen Trust are a really important source of knowledge and funding - an extremely worthy cause.

Dr Hadwen goes where our political leaders fear to tread! The subject of non-animal medical research is a hugely tricky and emotive area, generating vastly polarised arguments which all too often end in anger and deadlock as each side 'digs in'.

The Trust is seeking to establish cut-through, recognising the need to advance the cause of medical research - which benefits both humans and animals - while exploring viable alternatives, which one day may end the pain and suffering undoubtedly caused by animal experimentation.

It offers a clear vision, articulated in a credible, intelligent voice - and with advances such as creating the world’s first professorial chair in animal replacement science, it is demonstrating the value of working with the scientific community rather than against them. Ultimately, I am sure that both sides of the experimentation argument would agree that it would be better not to have to depend on expensive, often unreliable testing that all too often invokes such an unpopular public backlash. The Trust is promoting and funding practical steps forward to ensure this vision becomes a reality.

The Dr Hadwen Trust is not only making a better world for the animals used in medical experiments, but also for humans who trust and rely on modern medicine. DHT are creating innovations in non-animal experiments to make sure that those drugs seen as fit for consumption when tested on animals, but which went on to harm on kill humans, do not make it onto the market. They are a friendly, approachable, hard-working charity and one of my favourite charities, and which I fundraise for regularly.

Dr Hadwyn Trust is doing an amazing job of funding and promoting medical research without the use of cruel and unreliable experiments using animals. I give school talks on vivisection and it is great that I can point interested students to Dr Hadwyn where there is so much valid information on this subject. They are bringing about a change that is so desperately needed
