Some news and updates provided by the Hinckley Carnival team:

Good news and bad news has plagued the carnival in recent weeks! The Circus, due to circumstances beyond our control will no longer be attending the carnival field. But the royalty of Hinckley will.

The carnival committee has managed to get the current outgoing Mayor Jeffrey Bannister, the new incoming Mayor Keith Nichols and former Mayor Keith Lynch all to agree to spend a time in the stocks and be sponged down all for the good causes of the day! If you know of anyone else who deserves a wetting, a teacher, figure head or local celebrity who is "game for a laugh" then contact Neil on 01455 234658.

The Horse drawn carriage was also withdrawn from service, leaving the Mayor without transport around the parade, but in the nick of time David MacCurrie jumped to the Carnival's rescue with his 1926 Austin Clifton Tourer to lead the procession in style. (see pic attached)

Paul Doubt Bar Manager for the Time Bar Beer Festival that will be attending has told the Committee that there will be a number of different lagers and bitters available in the tent including their own brew "Steaming Billy's Bitter". The beer tent will be situated at the back of the field behind the main arena and is approx. 50m, there will be a seated area outside which will be roped off with security on hand throughout the day.

The Hinckley Pubwatch Carnival Queen 2009 was held on Wednesday 13th May with Amy Taaffe - Miss Karns crowned by last year's winner Tina Rekik at a fabulous night out at Elements nightclub, Hinckley.

Thanks for the update guys. With only a few days to go now, make sure you have Sunday 7th June 09 firmly in your diary to join the Hinckley Carnival team for a great family day out at the Hinckley Carnival 2009!
