National Minimum Wage - new rates for 2011-12

Local business owners in the Hinckley & Bosworth area and Nationally need to be aware  that as from tomorrow, the 1st October 2011, the rates for the National minimum wage will change. The three main bands for workers that need to be applied are (per hour):

  • workers under 18 years of age – the new minimum wage rate is £3.68;
  • workers aged 18 – the new minimum wage rate should be £4.98;
  • workers aged 21 and over - the new minimum wage rate is £6.08.

The new rate for apprentices, those individuals who are aged under 19 or in the first 12 months of their apprenticeship, is now £2.60 per hour.
