Hinckley Speech & Drama Studio (HSDS) set off during half-term for a day trip with three coach loads of HSDS students, their parents and friends to the West End of London. The aim of this trip was to watch ex-Hinckley Speech and Drama Studio student Lauren Samuels playing ‘Sandy’ in the hit show ‘Grease’.

HSDS Principal, Priscilla Morris, was delighted to be invited to Lauren’s dressing room before the show (see photograph below). Lauren also found time to come out to the stage door to greet her HSDS fans for photos and to sign programmes. It was then time for the show and the155 children and adults took their seats in the stalls. No one was disappointed with the show or Lauren's performance; everyone agreed that Lauren was just perfect as ‘Sandy’.

The show is not the only highlight of success for HSDS because during the same week the Studio celebrated the highlights of its 38th year with an Open Day at the Concordia Theatre.  Audiences packed the rehearsal room throughout the day to see Festival winner's examination distinction performances together with songs and scenes from the Musical Theatre and Drama Workshops. The day culminated with the presentation of awards (see photograph below).
