A Round of Applause for Popular Classics
19th April 2009

Last night we attended the first in a series of concerts being organised by Applause and what a fabulous evening it was. The concert, called Applause Classics, was held in St Mary's church, Hinckley. The acoustics of the church simply added to the fantastic sounds created by some very talented local performers including our very own bestofhinckley classical guitarist Neville Cooper of Guitar Magic.

There are three further concerts in the series - Melton Mowbray on the 9th May, Loughborough on the 16th May and finally Leicester on the 30th May. If you get a chance to attend any one of these then I would highly recommend them. The net proceeds from the events will go to Leicestershire based charities including the fund for the Special Olympics to be held in Leicester and the Mayoral Charities of each of the areas. For Hinckley this will means that much needed funds come to the Matthew Fulham Foundation and Memphys, the current beneficiaries of the Mayor's charity fund.

We will have the opportunity of another entertaining Applause event later in the year when the Applause Somewhere show comes to Hinckley Concordia Theatre on the 21st June 09. Believe the tickets are going fast for this event and following on from the success of the Applause Classics at St Mary's I would recommend that you get your tickets booked now!
Our thanks go to Dave Andrews and Monica Winfield of BBC Radio Leicester and of course all the Applause team for their tremendous efforts and dedication to put on such a great show. In addition, thanks to all the performers - you were just absolutely stunning!
