The Town Council is responsible for Hertford cemetery in North Road, Hertford.

All land is consecrated, which means it has been blessed by a Bishop in the Church of England. There are no restrictions on who may be buried in consecrated land. There is also a dedicated Roman Catholic block in the Cemetery, which is now full.


Cemetery service includes:

  • Advice.
  • Options of bricked grave.
  • The option to pre purchase plots in certain areas.
  • Graves for cremated remains.
  • Triple depth graves.
  • Liaison with funeral directors.
  • Administration of deeds and burials.

Cemetery records are available when the cemetery office is open.

 

Opening times:

The cemetery is open to the public 8.00am to sunset weekdays.

Weekend hours vary, as the gates are open by the volunteers of the Cemetery Friends Group, but are generally open from 9.00am to 7.00pm but times cannot be guaranteed.

The vehicle gates are open from: 8.00am to 4.15 Monday to Thursday & 8.00am to 3.15pm on Fridays.

Vehicle access is at the discretion of the Town Council and any time restrictions will be displayed on the cemetery noticeboard. A 5mph speed limit is in operation.

Note: The Cemetery is current closed at weekends due to COVID-19.
