Brilliant to visit and a pleasure for all in Bexhill. The pride of the town. Artists flock to perform here and the line up is so diverse.

We visited the 1935 Art Deco De La Warr Pavilion whilst an art exhibition, entitled “Indifferent Deep”, was occurring outside and around the pavilion (the pavilion became a contemporary arts centre in 2005 following restoration work).

Situated on Bexhill seafront, above the impressive King George V Colonnade, the pavilion offers good views from the roof.

There is car parking just outside (although the instructions on the machines were not quite correct) - basically you pay for a full day, then re-scan you Credit Card when leaving and it adjusts the charge for the period you were actually there.

This is such a beautiful art deco building. I particularly love the grand staircase with floor to ceiling windows. We wandered around the exhibition, which changes with the seasons. Great place.

We had a coffee here on the balcony. A lovely idyllic spot to stop and enjoy the beach view. The iconic style of the building is quite something. Coffee was very good (and we are fussy!) and service good also.

Slight bug bear was no gluten free options on snacks apart from one cake. This should be a really easy win for cafes - GF cakes taste the same if not better - they're are not just for GF people!!

Recommended all the same

Friendly staff, lovely cakes (mango and passion fruit, mmm!) and great views of the sea . It was where Agatha Christie's ABC murders (David Suchet's Poirot) was partly filmed - so that was a bonus. Pity it had a "woke" feel to it - with the types of books and art. Still a good experience , overall.

Bexhill is a lovely town with a few restaurants and bars near, and the De La Warr Pavillion has its own bars where you can relax pre show and during the interval . The Pavillion itself has great acoustics with clear stage views throughout, and despite the heat it never felt unpleasant. Would definitely go again.

We were honestly shocked today by the incredibly poor quality of food (all veggie) that we received. The view and staff were fine but I could not eat either the bloated and bland soggy sandwich or the equally bland main course salad. It is many years since I have left a negative review but felt so disappointed.

The building itself is a pretty spectacular example of Art Deco, but the whole experience was spoiled by the over-officious staff there and the thoughtlessness of the facilities. Added to that the absolutely ridiculous parking payment system which caused no end of difficulties for me and many other people.

Bit bland, needs something to liven it up! Great cafe though.

Classic events venue. Disabled facilities, helpful staff and good access. Worth a visit for the architecture or the events as both good.

What amazing example of modern architecture. The sweeping internal stairs, roof terrace and balcony and the clean lines of its era, make this building iconic. Its a must see.
